# Daily standup

> A short daily check-in about progress, the next useful step and anything blocking it.

## What it means

A short daily check-in, with the Scrum Guide 2020 reference (verified): “The Daily Scrum is a 15-minute event for the Developers of the Scrum Team.” Explain the familiar three questions and that the 2020 guide frames the event around progress toward the Sprint Goal . Async standups for distributed teams, and a solo standup for people who work alone.

## A practical example

“Finished the import; next is validation; blocked on the sample file” gives a team enough context to respond.

## Put it into practice

- Name the concrete situation before applying the label. Daily standup is useful only when it changes a choice, boundary or next action.
- Make the state visible: write the owner, time, source or stopping condition down instead of relying on memory.
- Review what happened. Keep the part that reduced ambiguity and change the part that added ceremony without helping the work.

## How it relates to Plexii

the Standup widget on Home summarises what you finished since last time and what is next, with suggestions worth a look (/help/home-widget-standup); Today’s agenda (/help/home-widget-todays-agenda). Link /tools/meeting-agenda-builder.
