A decision is only as good as what it was based on. If the budget table behind a decision changes after you made it, someone should look again. **Decisions** keeps a list of what you have decided and watches what each decision depends on. When something it depends on changes, the decision is marked **At risk** and the widget's frame on the desk turns red, so the change does not slip by.

## Before you start

- **Every plan** includes Decisions.
- **Decisions start from a widget.** You flag the widget the decision rests on, such as a table, a note or a document on a desk.

## Flag a widget as a decision

1. On the desk, right-click the title bar of the widget the decision rests on.
2. Choose **Organise** > **Flag as a decision**.

A notice confirms **Flagged as a decision**. You can undo it straight away from the notice, or with `⌘` `Z` (`Ctrl` `Z` on Windows).

The decision is named after the widget, and it is linked to two things: the widget, and the desk it is on. You are recorded as the decision's owner.

## See your decisions

Open the **Brain** area and choose **Decisions**. The page is headed **Decisions**, with the line **What has been decided, and what a change would put at risk.**

Each decision shows:

- **Its name.**
- **Its status**: **Current** while nothing it depends on has changed, or **At risk** when something has. Point at **At risk** to see how many linked objects changed since your last review.
- **Its owner.**
- **Its stage.** A decision you flag starts as **Proposed**.
- **How many objects it is linked to**, such as **2 linked objects**.
- **Open desk** and **Retire**.

When any decisions are at risk, a line at the top says how many need a look, for example **2 decisions need a look, something they depend on changed.**

The page keeps itself up to date while it is open, so a decision turns **At risk** without you leaving and coming back.

## Review a decision at risk

1. Click **Open desk** on the decision.
2. The desk opens. The frame of the changed widget is red, so you can see what changed.
3. Check whether the decision still holds.

Opening the desk counts as reviewing it. Once you have looked, the decision goes back to **Current** until the next change.

## Retire a decision

When a decision no longer applies, click **Retire**. It leaves the list and stops raising risk on the widget and desk.

## Tips

- **Flag the source, not the summary.** Flag the table or document the decision depends on, so a change to the actual numbers raises the alarm.
- **Name the widget well.** The decision takes the widget's title, so a title like "Q3 budget, approved 3 Oct" makes the list easy to read.
- **Check Decisions after a busy week.** Anything at risk is listed at the top.

## Common questions

**I flagged the wrong widget.** Undo straight away with the notice or `⌘` `Z` (`Ctrl` `Z`), or click **Retire** on it in Decisions later.

**Why is a decision at risk when I didn't change the widget?** Each decision is linked to the widget and to its desk, so a change elsewhere on the desk counts too. Open the desk to review it.

**Where is the Flag as a decision option?** Right-click the widget's title bar, then look under **Organise**. See [Right-click menus](https://plexiidesk.com/help/right-click-menus).

**Can my own tools read my decisions?** Yes. AI tools you connect through **APIs** can list them. See [Connect your own scripts and AI tools to Plexii](https://plexiidesk.com/help/brain-api-mcp).
