A desk's name and room are easy to change at any time. You can do it from the desk itself, or from **All desks** when you want to tidy several at once.

## Rename the desk you are on

1. Click the desk's name in the header. The desk menu opens.
2. Under **This desk**, click **Rename**.
3. Type the new name.
4. Press `Enter` to keep it, or `Esc` to leave the old name.

If you change your mind afterwards, you can undo the rename. See [Undo and redo](https://plexiidesk.com/help/undo-redo).

## Rename a desk from All desks

1. In the side menu, under **Rooms**, click **All desks**.
2. Point at the desk and click the pencil, or right-click it and choose **Rename desk**.
3. Change the name under **Desk name** and click **Rename**.

## Move the desk you are on into a room

1. Click the desk's name in the header.
2. Click **Move to a room…**. Your rooms are listed, and the room the desk is in now has a tick.
3. Click the room you want. The desk moves there.

The list shows your rooms at the top level that are not archived. If you have no rooms yet, it says so, and **New room from this desk** makes one for you.

### Make a new room for this desk

In the same list, click **New room from this desk**. PlexiDesk creates a room called "New Room" and moves the desk into it in one step. To rename the room, see [Create and organise rooms](https://plexiidesk.com/help/room-create). On the Free plan, this counts towards your three rooms.

## Move several desks at once

1. Open **All desks**, in Gallery, List or Table view.
2. Click **Select**.
3. Click each desk you want to move, or click **Select all**.
4. Click **Move to room…**.
5. Choose a room, or **Top level** to take the desks out of any room.
6. Click **Done** to stop selecting.

Shared desks are not moved and stay where they are.

## Take a desk out of its room

Use **Move to room…** in **All desks**, as above, and choose **Top level**. The desk then appears under **Top level** in lists and on the Home **Rooms and desks** widget.

## Everything you can do with a desk in All desks

Point at a desk in Gallery or List view to see a row of small icons; rest the pointer on one to see what it does. Right-click a desk in any view for the full list with names.

| Action | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Share with team or group** | Appears in your Personal workspace when you also belong to a team organisation. Moves the desk and its widgets into that organisation. See [Share with your team or a group](https://plexiidesk.com/help). |
| **Create public link** | Makes a link anyone can use to view the desk. See [Share a desk anyone can use](https://plexiidesk.com/help/share-public-desk-link). |
| **Rename desk** | Gives the desk a new name. |
| **Open desk** | Opens the desk. Clicking the card does the same. Right-click only. |
| **Archive desk** | Hides the desk from **All desks** without deleting it. Right-click only. |
| **Move to Trash** | Moves the desk to Trash. Right-click only. |

## Rename other things

- **A widget:** double-click its title, or rename it from the minimap's list. See [The minimap and the jump list](https://plexiidesk.com/help/canvas-minimap) and [The controls on every widget](https://plexiidesk.com/help/widget-title-bar).
- **A room:** see [Create and organise rooms](https://plexiidesk.com/help/room-create).
