When you review someone's writing, or want a second opinion on your own, you often want to propose a change rather than make it. Turn on **Suggesting** and PlexiiDocs records your edits as suggestions: new text is underlined and removed text is struck through, so the change is visible until someone accepts or rejects it.

## Before you start

- **Plans.** Suggesting is on every plan.
- **Working with others.** In a live, shared document, everyone editing it sees the suggestions as they are made. See [Work together in real time](https://plexiidesk.com/help/real-time-collaboration).

## Turn on Suggesting

Click **Suggesting** in the bar above the page. The button is highlighted while it is on.

Suggesting is off each time you open a document, so you always know which mode you are in. Click **Suggesting** again to go back to editing directly.

## Make suggestions

With **Suggesting** on, edit as you normally would:

- **Type new text.** It is added as a suggestion, underlined.
- **Delete text** with `Backspace` or `Delete`. Instead of disappearing, it is struck through.
- **Select text and type over it.** The old text is struck through and your new text follows it, underlined.

Suggestions are shown in your colour, and each one records who made it and when.

> **Tip:**
> To take back a suggested addition, delete the underlined text. Deleting suggested text removes it outright rather than striking it through.

Joining two paragraphs, by pressing `Backspace` at the start of one, happens straight away rather than as a suggestion.

## Accept or reject suggestions

While **Suggesting** is on, or whenever the document holds suggestions, two buttons appear beside it:

- **Accept all** makes every suggestion part of the document: underlined text becomes ordinary text, and struck-through text is removed.
- **Reject all** throws every suggestion away: underlined text is removed, and struck-through text goes back to normal.

The buttons are greyed out when there is nothing to accept or reject. Either one can be undone with `⌘` `Z` on a Mac or `Ctrl` `Z` on Windows.

## A review, start to finish

1. The reviewer opens the document and turns on **Suggesting**.
2. They make their changes, and add comments to explain anything that needs it. See [Comment on a document](https://plexiidesk.com/help/docs-comments).
3. The writer reads the suggestions and comments.
4. To keep the changes, the writer clicks **Accept all**. To keep none, **Reject all**.
5. To keep some and not others, the writer edits the suggested text first, then accepts the rest.

## Common questions

**Can I accept one suggestion and reject another?**
Accept and reject work on all suggestions at once. To drop a suggested addition before you accept the rest, delete its underlined text, then click **Accept all**.

**Should I accept the suggestions before I export?**
Yes. Accept or reject them first, so the Word or PDF file shows the final text. See [Word, PDF and web export in PlexiiDocs](https://plexiidesk.com/help/docs-word-import-export).

**I accepted everything by mistake.**
Press `⌘` `Z` or `Ctrl` `Z` straight away. For anything older, restore an earlier version. See [Version history](https://plexiidesk.com/help/office-version-history).
