# The Documents page > The Documents page drafts a document, spreadsheet, deck or flowchart from a description, starts blank files, imports Visio, and lists your files and trash. Describe what you need and PlexiDesk writes a first draft, already open for editing. Below it are all your files and, when there is anything in it, the trash. ## Before you start - **Plans.** The Documents page is on every plan. - **Create with AI** needs AI to be set up: PlexiDesk credits while you are signed in, or your own Anthropic key. See [AI settings](https://plexiidesk.com/help/settings-ai). - **Collaborate** needs you to be signed in to your PlexiDesk account. ## Get to the Documents page When you open a file outside PlexiiOffice, for example a new file from an editor's **File** menu or from the command palette, the arrow at the left of the editor's header says **Back to Documents**. Click it to go to the Documents page. (For a design, the arrow goes back to PlexiDesign instead.) The page is headed **Documents**. ## Create with AI 1. At the top, choose what you are making: **Document** (writeups, briefs, proposals), **Spreadsheet** (plans, budgets, trackers), **Slides** (decks and presentations) or **Map** (flowcharts and workflow maps). 2. Describe it in the box. Be specific about what it should contain, for example "a one-page launch plan for our new pricing, with goals, timeline and risks". 3. Optionally, fill in **Who is it for? (optional)**, such as "the leadership team". 4. Click **Create with AI**, or press `⌘` `Enter` on a Mac (`Ctrl` `Enter` on Windows). The button reads **Creating…** while the draft is written. The new file then opens in its editor, named by the AI, for you to change as you like. If AI is not set up yet, a message under the box says so, and you can still start blank. ## Start blank Under the AI box, **Or start blank:** has a button for each kind of file: **Document**, **Spreadsheet**, **Slides** and **Map**. Click one to make an empty file and open it. ## Import a Visio diagram 1. Click **Import Visio**, beside the blank buttons. 2. Choose a .vsdx file on your computer. A new diagram is made from it and opens in PlexiDiagrams. See [Import Visio and export diagrams](https://plexiidesk.com/help/diagrams-visio-import-and-export). ## Your files Under **Recent**, every file is listed as a card with its name, how long ago it was edited and where it is filed. Click a card to open the file. Rest the pointer on a card for two more buttons: - **Collaborate (share live)** opens a live, shared version of the file that you and the people you invite can edit at the same time. The filing label on each card shows the folder the file is kept in. Click it to file the file somewhere else. With no files yet, the page says **No documents yet.** Click **Start writing** to jump to the AI box. ## The trash When you have files in the trash, **Trash** appears below your files with a count, for example **Trash (2)**. Click it to show or hide the trashed files. - **Restore** (the arrow out of a bin) puts a file back in your list. - **Delete forever** asks you to confirm, then removes the file for good. This cannot be undone. See [Delete and restore Office files](https://plexiidesk.com/help/office-trash-and-restore). ## Common questions **How is this different from Office Home?** Office Home is PlexiiOffice's start page, with app tiles, templates and your day. The Documents page is a plain list of your files with the AI writer at the top. Both show the same files. **The AI draft is not quite right.** It is an ordinary file, so edit it as you would anything else. For documents, the editor's own AI can rewrite parts of it. PlexiDesign has its own AI.
