PlexiiOffice keeps every file you make in one list, newest first. You can browse it by when you last worked on something, star the few files you return to, or search for a file by name from anywhere in PlexiDesk.

## Before you start

- **Plans.** Finding and starring files works on every plan.
- **Stars are kept on this computer.** Starring a file on one computer does not star it on another.

## See your latest files

On Office Home, **Recent** lists your twelve most recently changed files. Click one to open it, or use the tabs above the list to show only **Docs**, **Sheets**, **Slides** or **Draw** (diagrams). See [The Office Home page](https://plexiidesk.com/help/office-home).

For every file, grouped by when it last changed:

1. On Office Home, click **Recent** in the row of buttons at the top.
2. Files are grouped under **Today**, **Yesterday**, **Earlier this week**, **Earlier this month** and **Older**, newest first.
3. Click a file to open it.

If you have not made any files yet, the page says **Nothing opened yet**.

## Search for a file

1. Press `⌘` `K` on a Mac (`Ctrl` `K` on Windows), from anywhere in PlexiDesk.
2. Type part of the file's name, or a few words you remember from inside it.
3. Choose the file. It opens in its editor.

See [The command palette](https://plexiidesk.com/help/command-palette).

## Star a file

Star the files you come back to, so they are always one click away.

1. On Office Home, in **Recent**, click the star at the end of the file's row. Or, on the **Recent** or **Starred** page, click the star at the top right of the file's card.
2. The star fills in.

Click a filled star again to unstar the file.

### Where starred files show up

- **Starred**, in the row of buttons at the top of Office Home, shows every starred file as a card. The button shows how many files you have starred. With nothing starred, the page says **Nothing starred**.
- **Pinned**, in the right-hand column, lists up to five starred files. Click one to open it. Until you star something it says **Star files to pin them here.**

> **Tip:**
> Use stars for the handful of files you open every week. **Recent** already takes care of what you worked on today.

## See what was shared with you

Click **Shared with me** at the top of Office Home. The page lists what other people have shared with you, each with who sent it and when.

If nothing has been shared with you yet, the page says **Nothing shared with you yet**. See [Rooms and desks shared with you](https://plexiidesk.com/help/shared-with-me).

## Put a file on a desk while you browse

Every file in **Recent**, **Starred** and **Pinned** can be dragged. Drag it onto a desk's tab in the strip above the footer and it is placed on that desk. See [Put a document, spreadsheet or deck on a desk](https://plexiidesk.com/help/office-put-files-on-desks).

## Common questions

**My file is not in Recent.**
Check the trash: on Office Home, click **Trash**. If the file is there, click **Restore**. See [Delete and restore Office files](https://plexiidesk.com/help/office-trash-and-restore). You can also search for it with `⌘` `K` or `Ctrl` `K`.

**I starred a file on my laptop but it is not starred on my desktop.**
Stars are kept on each computer. Star the file on the other computer too.

**Can I sort the files by name?**
Office lists files by when they last changed. To find a file by name, search for it with the command palette.
