Every conversation you have with Plexii is kept, so you can come back to it later. All of them live in one place, **Your conversations**, wherever you opened Plexii. From there you can search them, reopen one to carry on, or delete the ones you no longer need.

## Before you start

- **Every plan** includes your conversation history.
- **Conversations belong to the organisation you are working in.** If you switch organisation, you see that organisation's conversations.
- **Picking up a desk's conversation automatically**, described below, is part of Plexii's memory, included in the Pro and Team plans.

## How conversations are saved

A new conversation is saved when you send its first message, and it is named after the start of that message. Until then nothing is added to your list, so opening Plexii and closing it again does not fill your history with empty chats.

A conversation also remembers where you started it, such as the desk, document or screen you were on, and keeps that label even when you move somewhere else, so you always know what it was about. Moving to another screen does not switch you to a different conversation. When you ask something, Plexii still sees the desk you are on at the time.

## Open Your conversations

1. Click the Plexii button at the bottom right of the screen to open the Plexii panel.
2. Open the list:
   - In **Sidebar** or **Floating** mode, click **Your conversations** (the speech bubbles) in the panel's header. The list opens over the conversation.
   - In **Full screen**, and on the Plexii hub, the list is always down the left.
3. To narrow the list, type in **Search chats**. It matches conversation names.
4. Click a conversation to reopen it. In **Sidebar** and **Floating** the list closes and you are back in the conversation, ready to carry on.

To close the list without choosing anything, click the cross at its top right or press `Esc`.

### What the list shows

- Conversations are grouped by when you last used them: **Today**, **Yesterday**, **Previous 7 days**, **Previous 30 days** and **Older**, newest first.
- The conversation you are in is highlighted.
- Rest the pointer on a conversation to see its full name, where it was started and how long ago you last used it.
- Before you have any conversations, the list reads **Your conversations will appear here.** If nothing matches your search, it reads **No chats match.**

## Start a new chat

Do any of these:

- Click **New chat** (the plus sign) in the panel's header or on the hub.
- Click **New chat** at the top of Your conversations.
- Press `⌘` `O` on a Mac or `Ctrl` `O` on Windows while Plexii is open.

A new chat starts as a normal conversation. Choices you made in another conversation, such as Discovery mode or the web search switch, do not carry over. The new chat is saved once you send the first message.

## Delete a conversation

1. Open Your conversations.
2. Point at the conversation you want to remove. A bin appears at the right of the row.
3. Click the bin (**Delete this conversation**).

The conversation is deleted straight away, so check it is the right one first. Plexii also stops using it as a source in later answers. If it was the conversation you had open, Plexii starts a new chat for you.

## Clear the conversation on screen

When a conversation has messages, a **Clear chat** button (the sweep icon) shows at the top right of the conversation. Click it to clear the messages from the panel and start from a clean slate.

Clearing does not delete the conversation. It stays in Your conversations. To remove a conversation completely, delete it from the list instead.

## Your half-typed message is kept

Anything you have typed but not sent is kept with its conversation while PlexiDesk is open. It is still there when you:

- switch to another conversation and come back,
- close the panel and open it again,
- switch between **Sidebar**, **Floating** and **Full screen**,
- look at another tab in the panel.

## Pick up where you left off on a desk

When you apply a card that creates a desk in a conversation, for example after **Turn into desk**, the conversation and the new desk are linked. Later, open Plexii while you are on that desk and Plexii opens the desk's conversation for you, so you carry on where you left off.

- If you are already in one of that desk's conversations, Plexii stays where you are.
- If several conversations are linked to the desk, Plexii prefers one whose main desk it is, and picks the one you used most recently.
- Your other conversations are always in Your conversations.

This is part of Plexii's memory, included in the Pro and Team plans. See [Turn a conversation into a desk](https://plexiidesk.com/help) and [What Plexii remembers about you](https://plexiidesk.com/help).

## Tips

- **One topic per conversation.** A new chat for each piece of work keeps answers focused and the list easy to scan.
- **Make the first message count.** A conversation is named after the start of your first message, and Search chats matches names, so a clear first line makes it easy to find later.
- **Use Full screen or the hub to move between conversations.** The list stays in view down the left, so switching is one click.

## Common questions

**I can't find an earlier conversation.** Check that you are in the right organisation, because each organisation has its own conversations. Search matches conversation names, which come from the first message, so try words from how you started. Older conversations are under **Older** at the bottom of the list.

**Plexii opened a different conversation when I opened it on a desk.** That desk has a conversation linked to it, so Plexii opened it for you. Your other conversation is still in Your conversations; click it to go back.

**Does Clear chat delete the conversation?** No. It clears the messages from the panel, and the conversation stays in Your conversations. To remove it, delete it from the list.

**`⌘` `O` doesn't start a new chat.** The shortcut works while Plexii is open, in the panel or on the hub. Click the Plexii button first.
