# Set your body doubling preference

> Choose the body doubling mode every session starts on, on the Account tab in Settings. Picking a mode in the Body double panel updates it too.

Your body doubling preference is the mode every new session starts on. Set it once, and the **Body double** panel opens on that mode each time you look for a partner. You can still choose a different mode for any one session.

## Before you start

- **Plan:** the setting appears on the **Pro** and **Team** plans. On a plan without body doubling, the **Account** tab does not show it.
- **No Save button.** Your choice is saved as soon as you click it.
- **This computer only.** The preference is kept on this computer. If you use PlexiDesk on more than one, set it on each one.

## Set your usual mode

1. Click the gear at the right-hand end of the header to open **Settings**.
2. Click the **Account** tab.
3. Scroll down to **Body double**, below your account details.
4. Under **How you want to pair**, click a mode: **Silent**, **Intros only**, **A little chat is fine** or **Happy to talk**. A tick marks the one you chose.

## What you will see

The **Body double** section has:

- a short description: you are paired with another member who is also working, introduced by a made-up session name and never your name or email, and only ever matched with someone who chose the same mode
- the four modes under **How you want to pair**, each with a line saying what it opens
- a note that the camera is on in every mode, that either of you can turn yours off at any time, and where to start a session

## How it works with the Body double panel

- When you open the **Body double** panel, it starts on the mode chosen here.
- If you click a different mode in the panel, that mode becomes your preference too, and this setting changes to match, even with Settings open.
- Until you choose, the preference is **Silent**, the mode that opens the least.

## Common questions

**I cannot see Body double on the Account tab.** The section appears only on plans that include body doubling. See [Plans and pricing: Free, Pro and Team](https://plexiidesk.com/help/plans-and-pricing).

**Does changing this affect a session that is running?** No. A running session keeps the mode you were matched on. The new preference applies the next time you look for a partner.

**My preference changed by itself.** Choosing a mode in the **Body double** panel also saves it as your preference, so the panel starts where you left off.
