**Your data** is a section at the bottom of the **Account** tab in Settings. It is where you keep your own copy of your work, including what our server holds, and where you close your account.

## Before you start

- **Plan.** Your data is on every plan.
- **You need to be signed in.** Signed out, the Account tab does not show the section. A backup of this computer works signed out too, from **Settings** > **Data** > **Backup & data**. See [Back up and restore your workspace](https://plexiidesk.com/help/data-backup-restore).
- **Keeping a copy is never required.** You can save one at any time, and you do not need one before you ask us to close your account.

## Find Your data

1. Click the gear at the right-hand end of the header to open **Settings**.
2. Click the **Account** tab.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the tab, to **Your data**.

The section starts: **Keep your own copy at any time.**

## Back up this computer

1. In **Your data**, click **Back up this computer (.fbbackup)**. It says **Saving…** while it works.
2. Choose where to save the file and click **Save**.

PlexiiDesk says **Saved** followed by the file's name. If you cancel the save, nothing is saved and nothing is shown.

This is the same backup as **Export a backup** on the **Data** tab. It holds the work kept on this computer, as the section says: **A backup of this computer holds the work kept here.** For what a backup includes and leaves out, and how to restore one, see [Back up and restore your workspace](https://plexiidesk.com/help/data-backup-restore).

## Get a copy of what our server holds

A backup of this computer holds what is stored on this computer. What our server holds for your account is a separate copy.

1. In **Your data**, click **Download what our server holds (.zip)**. It says **Preparing…** while the server gathers it.
2. Choose where to save the file and click **Save**.

PlexiiDesk says **Saved** followed by the file's name. The ZIP holds your account and settings, synced workspace and documents, organisations you created, messages, comments, shares, AI credits, the usage data and crash reports you chose to send, your sign-in history and the files you uploaded. Passwords and other sign-in secrets are left out. If the copy cannot be made, PlexiiDesk says why.

## Close your account

Below **Your data**, click **Close and archive my account**. Closing signs you out everywhere and archives your account and what our server holds for it, so it can be restored later. You confirm by typing **CLOSE** and entering your password, or a code we email you.

For what to do first, each step of closing, and how to restore your account, see [Close your account](https://plexiidesk.com/help/account-delete).

## Common questions

**Is there a button to download what the server holds?**
Yes: **Download what our server holds (.zip)**. You can also ask us by email at [connect@plexiidesk.com](mailto:connect@plexiidesk.com).

**Is Back up this computer different from Export a backup?**
No. Both save the same .fbbackup file of this computer. **Your data** puts it next to your account so you can keep a copy in one place.

**I am signed out and cannot see Your data.**
The section shows only while you are signed in. To back up this computer, use **Settings** > **Data** > **Backup & data** > **Export a backup**.
