# AI in PlexiiSlides > Have AI build a deck from a description, add slides, redesign a slide, improve or shorten its text, suggest a theme and draft speaker notes. Source: https://plexiidesk.com/help/slides-ai Section: Office > PlexiiSlides Plans: All plans Updated: 2026-10-15 PlexiiSlides has AI in two places: - **The AI slides panel**, opened with **AI** in the toolbar, works on whole slides: it builds a new deck from a description, adds slides to the end of the deck, or redesigns the slide you are on. - **The AI Assistant** in the side panel works on the text of the slide you are on: it improves, rewrites or shortens it, suggests a theme, and drafts speaker notes. Either way, you see the result before anything in your deck changes. ## Before you start - The AI features are on every plan. - AI needs to be set up: PlexiDesk credits while you are signed in, or your own Anthropic key. See [AI credits and where your AI runs](https://plexiidesk.com/help/ai-credits) and [AI settings](https://plexiidesk.com/help/settings-ai). - Open a deck in PlexiiSlides, or click inside a Slides widget on a desk. See [PlexiiSlides overview](https://plexiidesk.com/help/slides-overview). ## Build, extend or redesign slides 1. Click **AI** in the toolbar. The **AI slides** panel opens above the slide. 2. Choose a mode: - **New deck** builds a deck of 5 to 10 slides on a subject. AI picks one of the five themes for it and writes speaker notes for every slide. - **Append** writes 2 to 5 new slides for the end of the deck. - **Redesign** reworks the slide you are on. 3. Describe what you want, such as "a 6-slide pitch for a scheduling app" or "two slides on next quarter's hiring plan". 4. Click **Generate**, or press `⌘` `Enter` on a Mac or `Ctrl` `Enter` on Windows. 5. Look over the preview: a thumbnail of each slide. Nothing in your deck has changed yet. 6. Click **Use deck**, **Add … slides** (the button shows how many) or **Apply redesign**. To try again, click **Regenerate**. To leave without changing anything, click **×**. The slides AI writes have a title, up to six short bullet points and speaker notes, set out with the **Title**, **Title + content** or **Section** layout. Add pictures, charts and your own detail afterwards. > **Note:** > **Use deck** replaces every slide in the deck with the new ones, and the deck takes the new theme. If you want your old slides back, click Undo straight away. ### Redesign the slide you are on When the slide has text, the **Redesign** mode offers **Make this slide beautiful in the theme**. Click it and AI redesigns the slide around the text that is on it now, in one step, and shows you the preview. If you type your own description in **Redesign** mode instead, AI works from what you type, not from the slide. Include the points the slide should make. **Apply redesign** replaces what is on the slide, and its background, with the new design. ### Make added slides match Slides from **Append** come in the theme AI chose for them, which may differ from yours. To make the whole deck match, choose your theme again in the inspector or on the **Layout** tab. See [Themes and backgrounds](https://plexiidesk.com/help/slides-themes-and-backgrounds). The panel also opens from the side panel (**More ideas** > **Generate or redesign a whole deck**), and from the command palette as **AI: generate or redesign slides**. ## Work on a slide's text with the AI Assistant The **AI Assistant** sits at the top of the side panel, under **Ask your workspace**. It offers: - **Improve slide**: tightens the wording and sharpens the message. - **Rewrite content**: says the same thing in clearer words. - **Shorten text**: makes it shorter and punchier. - **Design upgrade**: suggests which of the five themes suits the slide, with a short reason. - **Add speaker notes**: drafts what to say while the slide is showing. - **More ideas**: **Generate or redesign a whole deck**, which opens the **AI slides** panel, and a box where you type your own instruction for the slide's text and click **Run**, or press `⌘` `Enter` on a Mac or `Ctrl` `Enter` on Windows. 1. Open the slide and click an action. **Working on it.** shows while it runs. 2. Read the result in the panel, under the name of the action. 3. Use it: - **Apply** puts rewritten text into the slide's main text box, in place of its text. - **Insert notes** puts drafted notes into the slide's speaker notes, in place of what was there. - **Apply theme** switches the deck to the suggested theme. - **Copy** copies the result, so you can paste it where you like. The assistant reads all the text on the slide, title included. After **Apply**, check the text box and remove anything the title already says. > **Tip:** > If a slide has no text yet, the panel says **This slide has no text yet. Add a text box and the assistant can work on it.** Add a few rough points first, then use **Improve slide**. ## Ask about your other work **Ask your workspace**, above the AI Assistant, answers questions from your documents, sheets and notes across your desks, which helps when a slide needs a figure or a fact from elsewhere. Sign in to use PlexiDesk credits, or add your own key. See [AI settings](https://plexiidesk.com/help/settings-ai) and [Add your own API keys](https://plexiidesk.com/help/api-keys). **The design suggestion did not apply.** If the suggestion does not name one of the five themes, a line above the slide says so. Pick a theme yourself on the **Layout** tab. **Can I undo an AI change?** Yes. Click Undo in the toolbar, or press `⌘` `Z` on a Mac or `Ctrl` `Z` on Windows. **Does AI add pictures?** No. AI writes the titles, points and notes. Add pictures with **Image**.
