Transitions and animations add movement when you present. A **transition** plays as a slide comes on screen. An **entrance animation** plays as one element appears on the slide, so points can arrive one after another. Both play only while you present; while you edit, the slide shows everything in place.

## Before you start

- Animations and transitions are on every plan.
- Open a deck in PlexiiSlides, or click inside a Slides widget on a desk. See [PlexiiSlides overview](https://plexiidesk.com/help/slides-overview).

## Give a slide a transition

1. Open the slide in the rail.
2. Click an empty part of the slide, so that nothing is selected.
3. In the inspector, choose a transition under **Slide transition**.

| Transition | What you see as the slide comes on |
| --- | --- |
| **None** | The slide appears straight away. Every new slide starts with this. |
| **Fade** | The slide fades in. |
| **Slide** | The slide slides in from the right as it fades in. |
| **Zoom** | The slide grows into place as it fades in. |
| **Morph (tween shared objects)** | Any object that was also on the slide shown just before moves and resizes smoothly from where it was to where it is now. Everything else on the slide fades in. |

Each slide has its own transition. The transition belongs to the slide it leads into, so set it on the slide you are moving to.

## Give an element an entrance animation

1. Click the element.
2. In the inspector, under **Entrance animation**, choose how it appears:
   - **Fade in**: it fades in where it is.
   - **Slide up**: it rises into place from just below.
   - **Slide in**: it moves into place from the right.
   - **Zoom in**: it grows into place.
3. An **Order** box appears under it. Type a number to set when this element plays.

Entrance animations play by themselves when the slide comes on screen. You do not need to click for each one.

### Set the order

- Elements play in **Order** from lowest to highest, a moment apart: 0 first, then 1, then 2.
- Elements with the same number play together.
- Until you type a number, animated elements play from the back of the stack to the front, a moment apart.

For example, to bring in a title and then three points one by one, give the title **Order** 0 and the three text boxes 1, 2 and 3.

To take an animation off, choose **None**.

> **Tip:**
> To see the effect, present from that slide: open it and click **Present** in the toolbar. Press `Esc` to come back. See [Speaker notes and presenting](https://plexiidesk.com/help/slides-speaker-notes-and-present).

## Common questions

**My animations do not play while I edit.** They play only when you present. Click **Present** to see them.

**Can an element wait for a click before it appears?** No. Entrance animations play in order, a moment apart, as soon as the slide comes on screen.

**Can I set the same transition on every slide at once?** Set it on each slide in turn. Each slide keeps its own.

**Do animations and transitions go into an exported file?** No. The .pptx file and the PDF have each slide as it looks with everything in place. See [Import and export PowerPoint and PDF](https://plexiidesk.com/help/slides-powerpoint-import-export).
