# Project handover desk: hand over the work itself, not a document about it

> For Anyone going on leave, changing roles or passing a project or client to a colleague.

the handover is the desk — the next person opens one place with the state of play, every open task with an owner and a date, the people to know and the files — plus a Resume note Plexii writes from the desk itself. Distinct from /blog/project-handover (the checklist and why): this page is the set-up and the hand-off steps.

## What goes on the desk

- Card ‘Start here’ (what this is, where it stands, the first thing to do)
- Page ‘Handover note’ (purpose, status, decisions and why, open questions, risks, key dates)
- Tasks with assignee, start and due dates and what each waits for (/help/widget-tasks-planning)
- Contacts for the people the work is about (/help/widget-contacts)
- Drive (folder) pinned to the project folder (/help/widget-drive)
- File or link widgets for the two or three documents that matter (/help/widget-file-or-link)
- Calendar for deadlines (in beta, /help/widget-calendar).

## Set it up

create the desk (/help/desk-create) or start from the Project Hub starter (/help/desk-templates); fill the widgets; click Resume, then Generate resume, for the handoff note (/help/desk-resume); share the desk with the person taking over as Can edit (/help/share-desk-with-people); desk History lets either of you go back to an earlier state (/help/desk-history).

## Use it day to day

read the Card and the Resume note, then work through Tasks; regenerate Resume before handing back.

## Where Plexii helps

the Resume note (where you are, key decisions, open questions, next 3 actions, under 250 words); Plexii answers questions such as what was decided about X from the desk, with sources (/help/ai-assistant).
