# Time-blocking planner: plan your day in blocks, then print it or add it to your calendar

> Build a day from named blocks, copy the plan or download a calendar file.

A block turns an intention into a place on the calendar. Keep the plan believable: include admin, breaks and buffer instead of filling every minute with ideal work.

## How it works

Blocks are ordered by their local start time. Calendar export uses floating local times, so an imported block stays at the clock time you chose.

If a task does not fit, rebook it. Quietly stacking unfinished work on top of the next block makes the calendar stop being useful.

## Questions

### What is the difference between time blocking and timeboxing?

Time blocking reserves when work happens. Timeboxing also gives the activity a maximum duration. One block can do both.

### Will the calendar file expose what I type?

It is generated in your browser and downloaded directly. Nothing is uploaded.

### How long should a block be?

Use the shortest block that gives the work a fair chance, based on your own history rather than a universal number.
