One desk per task: why we built PlexiDesk

The Plexii team, October 2026, 4 minute read

Most of us don't do one kind of work. We do several pieces of work, each of which needs a document, some numbers, a few web pages, a conversation and a list of what's next. The software we use is organised the other way round: one app for documents, one for numbers, one for mail, one for chat, and a browser holding everything else in tabs.

So every piece of work gets spread across a dozen windows. Tabs get closed. Context is lost. Effort is duplicated. You rebuild the same picture of the work every time you come back to it.

Organise around the work, not the app

PlexiDesk flips that around. Every task gets a desk: a canvas where the doc, the sheet, the research, the notes and the people for that one piece of work sit side by side. The office suite, the browser, meetings and mail come to the desk, rather than the desk being scattered across them.

New task? Start a desk. Repeated task? Come back to the desk you already made. Collaborative task? Invite people onto it.

Closing a desk is the point

When the work stops for the day, close the desk. The clutter goes with it. Tomorrow, open it and everything is where you left it, with a one-line summary of where you stopped and what's next. No thirty-tab session you never look at again.

Why the assistant lives on the desk

Because the desk holds the work, Plexii, the assistant, can answer from it. Ask where the budget stands and it reads the sheet that's actually on the desk, cites it, and offers the next step as a card you approve. More on that in how Plexii shows its sources.

If you want to see what this looks like for your own work, build a desk in the interactive demo. It takes about a minute.
