Plexii glossary

Weekly review

A recurring check of inboxes, commitments, calendars and priorities used to prepare the coming week.

What it means

A recurring session to clear inboxes, review commitments and plan the coming week; its best-known form is in David Allen’s Getting Things Done — A 30-minute agenda people can copy.

The term is most useful as a shared description. It does not remove the need to look at the actual task, evidence or constraint in front of you.

A practical example

Friday’s review clears captures, checks next week’s calendar, closes finished tasks and chooses three priorities.

Put it into practice

  1. Name the concrete situation before applying the label. Weekly review is useful only when it changes a choice, boundary or next action.
  2. Make the state visible: write the owner, time, source or stopping condition down instead of relying on memory.
  3. Review what happened. Keep the part that reduced ambiguity and change the part that added ceremony without helping the work.

How it relates to Plexii

the Weekly Plan starter puts a priorities sticky, a Mon–Fri plan note, a 25-minute timer and a wins sticky on a new desk (desk templates); the Standup widget and Stalled desk widget on Home (home widget standup, home widget stalled desk). Link weekly reset.
