Desk template · Students revising for exams, from GCSE, A level, HSC and VCE to university finals.

Revision timetable desk: topics, confidence and sessions until the exam

revision planned from confidence as well as dates — a Table of every topic rated for confidence with sessions done, seen as a Calendar of sessions, a Chart of confidence by subject and a 25-minute Timer for each session. Distinct from unit-plan (the teacher’s side) and essay-plan.

Suggested widgets: table · calendar · timer · chart · task list · sticky

What goes on the desk

  • Table ‘Topics’ (Subject (single select), Topic, Confidence (single select: Not yet, Getting there, Confident), Sessions done (number), Next session (date), Exam date (date))
  • Calendar widget for exam dates and booked revision time (in beta) (widget calendar)
  • Timer at 25:00 (widget timer)
  • Chart ‘Topics by confidence’ (widget chart)
  • Tasks ‘Today’s sessions’ (widget tasks)
  • Sticky ‘Formulas and facts’ (widget sticky).

Set it up

add the Table and use its Calendar view on Next session (table views); add the rest; plan each day with time blocking planner.

  1. Create a desk named for the real outcome, client or deadline.
  2. Add the suggested widgets and rename each one for the job it performs.
  3. Bring in the existing files or tables before inventing another copy of the information.
  4. Set a due date, add the first visible next action, then save the arrangement as a template if you will repeat it.

Use it day to day

three or four sessions, update confidence after each, filter to Not yet (widget table filter group).

A useful desk should reduce copying. Keep each changing fact in one widget, and let charts, summaries or views read from that source.

A worked starting point

Fictional example. Create the desk, add three real items that are already in motion, then use one full work cycle before changing the layout. At the end, remove anything you did not consult and add only the object that would have prevented a real interruption.
