Brain: your workspace knowledge

The Brain area holds what your workspace knows and the tools built on it, from Ask Brain, Search and the Brain Map to Decisions, Flows, Agents and APIs.

All plansUpdated

Brain is the part of PlexiDesk that is about what your workspace knows. It keeps a knowledge base that you and Plexii both read from, searches everything you have, draws your knowledge as a map, tracks the decisions you have made, and holds the tools that put that knowledge to work: assembling desks, automations, agents, connected apps and an API for your own tools.

When Plexii answers a question, much of what it reads comes from here. See What Plexii can read and search.

Before you start

Open Brain

  1. Look at the menu on the left of the window.
  2. Below the workspace switcher, choose the Brain tab.

A page titled PlexiBrain opens, with a tile for each Brain app. Click a tile, or choose the app in the menu under Apps. You can also press ⌘ K on a Mac or Ctrl K on Windows and choose PlexiBrain.

What is in Brain

App What it is for
Brain Home A dashboard for what the workspace knows. See Brain Home.
Ask Brain Your knowledge base: entries your team writes and Plexii grounds its answers in, plus what Plexii remembers about you. See Build your knowledge base in Ask Brain.
Search One box over your whole workspace, with a written answer when you want one. See Search everything and ask for an answer.
Brain Map Your knowledge entries drawn as a map, linked by the tags they share. See See your knowledge as a map.
Decisions What has been decided, and which decisions a later change puts at risk. See Track decisions and what puts them at risk.
Assemble a desk Gather widgets from across your desks into a new desk. See Assemble a desk from across your workspace.
Flows Automations: a trigger and a list of steps that run across your workspace. See Automate with Flows.
Agents Every desk agent in your workspace. See See and manage all your agents.
Connect The apps and services you have connected. See Add and use connected apps.
APIs A local API and an MCP endpoint, so your own scripts and AI tools can use your workspace. See Connect your own scripts and AI tools to Plexii.
Insights Focus insights from the focus sessions you have run, with an energy check-in that suggests tasks to match. See Focus tools in Plexii.

Brain Home

Brain Home is the Brain area's own dashboard. It starts with four widgets:

  • Rooms and desks, to browse your rooms and the desks in them.
  • Continue, the documents you touched most recently.
  • Pulse, your open, due and overdue counts at a glance.
  • Recent activity, the workspace activity trail from the last week.

You can rearrange it, add and remove widgets, and it keeps its own layout, separate from the Home dashboard in the Desk area. See The Home dashboard and Customize your Home dashboard.

How Brain keeps up with your workspace

Besides the entries people write, Brain brings in your desks, documents, notes and files, so that search and the map cover everything. This happens when you open the Brain Map, when you add files or a folder in Ask Brain, when you import a folder into Files, and when you run Sync workspace to Brain from the command palette. Anything you delete is taken out again on the next sync. See Build your knowledge base in Ask Brain.

Tips

  • Write down what your team keeps asking. A short entry in Ask Brain, such as your refund policy or how to book the meeting room, means Plexii answers from it every time.
  • Search before you ask. Search shows every match in one list; press ⌘ Enter (Ctrl Enter) when you want a written answer too.
  • Flag the decisions that matter. Brain then warns you when something they depend on changes.

Common questions

Is Brain the same as Plexii? No. Plexii is the assistant on every screen. Brain is the area where your workspace's knowledge and the tools built on it live. Plexii reads from Brain when it answers. See Meet Plexii, your assistant.

Why are there two Home entries in the Brain menu? The Home at the top shows a tile for each Brain app. Brain Home under Apps is the Brain area's dashboard.

The Brain tab is greyed out. An administrator has turned the area off, or it is not in your plan. Point at the tab to see which. See Desk, Office, People and Brain: the four areas.
