Templates and starting points

Start an Office file from a template on Office Home or the Templates page, and find the starter slides, diagrams, design sizes and artboards inside each app.

A template is a quick way to start a file of the right kind. PlexiiOffice has one starting point for each app, on Office Home and on its own Templates page. Inside the apps you will find more specific starting points, such as starter slides, diagram layouts, design sizes and artboard presets.

Before you start

  • Plans. Templates are on every plan.
  • To open Office Home, click the Apps heading in the side menu.

The templates in Office

Each template makes a new file in its app, named after the template:

Blank artwork PlexiDraw

Blank drawing is a diagram. For freehand drawing and painting, choose Blank artwork.

Start from a template on Office Home

  1. Open Office Home.
  2. Find Start with a template.
  3. To see one app's templates, click Docs, Sheets, Slides, Diagrams, Designs or Artwork above the row. All shows them all again.
  4. Click a template. The new file opens straight away.
  5. Rename it by clicking its name in the header.

Use the Templates page

  1. On Office Home, click Templates in the row of buttons at the top. The heading changes to PlexiOffice Templates.
  2. Each template is shown as a coloured card with its name and Create underneath.
  3. Click a card to make the file and open it.

Starting points inside each app

For a first draft written for you, describe the file on the Documents page and choose Create with AI. See The Documents page.

Make your own starting point

To reuse a file you like as a starting point, open it and choose File > Make a copy, then change the copy. The original stays as it was.

Desks have templates of their own, which place a set of widgets on a new desk. See Desk templates.

Common questions

The template made a file called "Blank document". Can I change that? Yes. Click the name in the editor's header and type a new one, or choose File > Rename.

Why does the Templates page look the same as the row on Office Home? They show the same templates. The page lays them out as a gallery; the row on Office Home can be narrowed by app.
