Comment on a document

Add a comment to a passage in a PlexiiDocs document, reply to comments, jump to the text a comment is about, and resolve threads in a live document.

All plansUpdated

A comment pins a note to a passage of a document: a question, a suggestion or a reminder. The passage is highlighted in amber, and the comment and its replies are listed in the Comments panel beside the page.

Before you start

  • Plans. Comments are on every plan.
  • Open the document in PlexiiOffice. Comments are added and read in PlexiDocs, not in a Document widget on a desk.
  • Live, shared documents keep their comments with the document for everyone working on it, and add Resolve. See Comments in a live document below.

Add a comment

  1. Select the words the comment is about.
  2. Click Comments in the bar above the page. The side panel opens on its Comments tab.
  3. Click Add a comment at the bottom of the panel.
  4. In the New comment box, type your comment.
  5. Click Comment.

The words you selected are highlighted in amber, and the comment appears in the panel with your name and how long ago you wrote it.

If no text is selected when you click Add a comment, PlexiDesk reminds you to highlight the passage first.

Read and reply

  • See all comments: click Comments above the page, or choose View > Show comments. The tab shows how many threads are open.
  • Find the text a comment is about: click the comment. The document scrolls to the highlighted passage.
  • Reply: type in Reply under the comment and press Enter, or click the send arrow.

Mention someone

In a comment or reply, type @ and choose a name from the list, then carry on typing. The list offers the people taking part in the document's comments. Press ↑ and ↓ to move and Enter or Tab to pick.

Comments in a live document

A live document is one you are editing with other people at the same time. Its comments are shared: everyone sees new comments as they are posted. See Work together in real time.

In a live document:

  1. Select the words, then click Comment on the selected text (the speech bubble with a plus) at the top of the document.
  2. Type in Comment on the selected text… and click Comment, or press Enter. Press Esc to cancel.
  3. Click Comments at the top to show or hide the comments. It shows how many threads are still open.

Each thread has two more buttons:

  • Resolve marks the thread done. It is shown as Resolved, and its highlight is removed from the text. Reopen brings it back.
  • Delete removes a comment or reply you wrote.

When someone mentions you in a comment on a live document, PlexiDesk lets you know.
