AI reply drafts in your voice

When you open an email, Plexii drafts a reply in the way you usually write, from the message and the thread before it. Edit it, redraft it or dismiss it.

Pro and Team plansUpdated

When you open an email in Mail, Plexii writes a reply for you to start from. It learns the way you write from your own sent mail, such as how you open, how long your sentences are and how you sign off, and drafts in that voice. It also reads the earlier messages in the conversation, so the draft does not ask something the thread has already settled.

The draft is a suggestion. It sits above the message until you choose to use it, and nothing is sent until you press Send and Confirm send yourself.

Before you start

  • Plans. AI reply drafts are part of the Pro and Team plans.
  • Set up AI. Sign in to run AI on your PlexiDesk credits, or add your own Anthropic key. See AI settings and AI credits and where your AI runs.
  • Connect your mailbox. See Connect your email account.
  • Some sent mail helps. To learn your voice, Plexii reads up to 20 of the messages in your mailbox's Sent folder. With only a few to go on, it writes in a clear, plain, professional voice instead.

Use a draft in Mail

  1. Open a message in Mail. Above it, a band says Drafting a reply in your voice… while Plexii writes.
  2. The draft appears under Suggested reply, with how sure Plexii is of it, for example 85% confident. A line under the draft may note anything Plexii was unsure of.
  3. Choose what to do:
    • Edit and send opens a Reply window with the draft above the quoted message. A note at the top reads Drafted by AI in your voice. Read it over and edit anything before you send.
    • Redraft writes a fresh draft.
    • Dismiss hides the draft for this message.
  4. In the Reply window, read the draft, change anything you need, then click Send and Confirm send. See Read, reply and send email.

Plexii drafts a new reply each time you open a message. Opening a different message replaces the draft with one for that message.

When Plexii does not write a draft

When Plexii judges that a message does not want a reply, such as a newsletter, a notification, marketing or mail from a no-reply address, or a message too short to answer, the band says AI saw no reply needed and the reason. Click the × to close it.

Draft a reply from a desk

In an Inbox widget, drafts are written when you ask:

  1. Click a message in the widget to open it.
  2. Click Reply or Reply all.
  3. Click Draft with AI. Rest the pointer on it first to see what it will use, for example Draft using this message and 2 earlier ones.
  4. The draft appears in the reply box. A line under it says what it was written from, for example Drafted from this message and 2 earlier ones. Check it before sending.
  5. Edit it and click Send.

If the message does not want a reply, the line says so instead, for example This does not look like a message that wants a reply.

What goes into a draft

  • The message you opened, with its quoted history and signature trimmed off.
  • The earlier messages in the same conversation, oldest first, up to the most recent eight.
  • A short description of how you write, which Plexii makes from your sent mail. It is made once each time you start PlexiDesk, and again when you connect a different mailbox.

Plexii is asked to reply only to what the messages say. Where the email asks something only you can answer, the draft says you will follow up rather than making up an answer.

Tips

  • Always read before you send. The draft is a starting point. Check names, dates and anything you are committing to.
  • Use Redraft for a different take. Each draft is written fresh, so a second one can come out shorter or warmer.
  • Low confidence, light edit. When the confidence figure is low, the note under the draft usually says why. Fill in what it could not know.

Common questions

Is a draft ever sent without me? No. A draft only fills in a reply for you. Sending always takes Send and then Confirm send.

How does it know how I write? It reads a sample of your own sent mail, up to 20 messages, and describes the patterns it finds there, such as tone, typical openings and sign-offs. It uses that description, not your messages, when it drafts.

Why does the draft sound generic? Plexii found too little sent mail to learn from, so it wrote in a plain, professional voice.

Does drafting use my credits? Drafts run the same way as Plexii's other AI: on your PlexiDesk credits when you are signed in, or on your own Anthropic key. See AI credits and where your AI runs.
