Add, reorder and lay out slides
Add slides from starter designs or blank, move them up and down the deck, delete them, and set each one out with a layout.
A deck grows one slide at a time. PlexiiSlides gives you ready-made starter slides, such as a cover, an agenda or a big number, drawn in your deck's theme, so most slides start with their text boxes already in place. You can also start from a blank slide, move slides around, delete them, and set any slide out again with a layout.
Before you start
- Adding and arranging slides works on every plan.
- Open a deck in PlexiiSlides, or click inside a Slides widget on a desk. See PlexiiSlides overview.
Add a slide from a starter
- Click the slide you want the new one to follow in the slide rail on the left.
- Click + at the bottom of the rail, or Templates in the toolbar. The Pick a starter slide window opens, with a preview of each starter in your deck's theme.
- Click a starter.
The new slide goes straight after the one you were on, and becomes the slide you are working on. To close the window without adding anything, click ×, click outside it or press Esc.
| Starter | What it has |
|---|---|
| Cover | A big title with an accent bar and a subtitle. |
| Section | A divider between parts of the deck. |
| Agenda | A title and a numbered list of what is coming. |
| Title + bullets | A heading with a bulleted body. |
| Comparison | Two columns side by side, each with a heading and bullets. |
| Big number | A single statistic with a caption. |
| Quote | A pull quote with attribution. |
| Image + caption | A title, a large space for a picture and a caption. |
| Closing | A thank-you slide to end on. |
| Blank | Nothing on it. |
The starters come with example wording, such as "Presentation title" or "87%". Double-click a text box to replace it with your own. See Text, shapes, images and tables on slides.
Add a blank slide
Choose Slide > New slide. A slide with nothing on it goes straight after the one you are on.
Move to a slide
Click its thumbnail in the rail. The rail numbers every slide and outlines the one you are on.
Reorder slides
- Rest the pointer on a thumbnail in the rail. Small buttons appear at its top right.
- Click Move up or Move down to move the slide one place.
With a slide open, Slide > Move slide up and Move slide down do the same.
Delete a slide
- Rest the pointer on its thumbnail and click × (Delete), or
- Open the slide and choose Slide > Delete slide.
The slide goes at once. If you did not mean it, click Undo in the toolbar, or press ⌘ Z on a Mac or Ctrl Z on Windows. A deck always keeps at least one slide, so the last slide cannot be deleted.
Lay out a slide
A layout sets a slide out with placeholder boxes for its title and body text.
- Open the slide.
- Click Layout in the toolbar and choose one, or open the Layout tab in the side panel and click one under Slide layout.
| Layout | What it puts on the slide |
|---|---|
| Title | A large title and a line of text under it. |
| Title + content | A title at the top and a bulleted text box under it. |
| Two content | A title and two bulleted text boxes side by side. |
| Section | A single large title. |
| Image + caption | A title at the top and a caption at the bottom, with room for a picture between them. |
| Blank | Nothing. |
The Slide tab in the side panel shows the current slide's layout under Slide layout. Change layout takes you to the Layout tab.
Common questions
Can I duplicate a slide? Not as a whole slide. Add a slide with the same starter or layout and fill it in. Within a slide, you can duplicate any element: select it and press ⌘ D on a Mac or Ctrl D on Windows.
My new slide does not match the rest of the deck. Starters are drawn in the deck's theme at the moment you add them. If you change the theme later, choose the theme again to restyle every slide. See Themes and backgrounds.
I deleted the wrong slide. Click Undo straight away to bring it back.
Where do I write what I want to say? In the Speaker notes box under the slide. See Speaker notes and presenting.
