Quick actions widget
Four one-click starting points on your dashboard: Create a new document, Plan, Collaborate on shared work and Automate with flows.
The Quick actions widget gives you four buttons for the things you start most often: writing something new, planning, working with other people and automating routine work. Each one takes you straight there.
You will find it on Home and on Office Home from the start.
What each button does
- Create (New document) makes a new, blank document called Untitled document and opens it in PlexiiDocs, ready to type. See PlexiDocs overview Coming soon.
- Plan (Plans and tasks) opens Plans in the Desk area, where your plans, timelines and milestones live. See Plans: timelines for your rooms Coming soon.
- Collaborate (Shared work) opens Collaborations: the desks, folders and documents shared live with you. Open one to work on it together. See Work together in real time.
- Automate (PlexiBrain flow) opens Flows in the Brain area, where you set up automations that run your work. See Automate with Flows Coming soon.
Before you start
- Plans. The widget works on every plan.
- Signing in. Collaborate shows the work shared with you once you are signed in. If you are not, the Collaborations page asks you to Sign in.
Sizes
- Small (one cell): the four buttons in two rows of two. This is the size it starts at.
- Medium (two cells wide): the four buttons in one row.
Add the widget
Home and Office Home already have it. You can add it to People Home or Brain Home, or put it back if you removed it. Each dashboard can have one.
- Open the dashboard you want, for example People Home from the People menu.
- Click Customize at the top right, then click Add widget.
- Find Quick actions. Type in Search widgets, or choose the Actions category. If the card says Already on your home, this dashboard has one already.
- Click Quick actions, then choose Small or Medium with the arrows beside the preview or the dots under it.
- Click Add widget. The widget is added at the end of the board.
- Drag it to where you want it, then click Done.
Resize or remove the widget
- On the dashboard, click Customize.
- Then:
- To change the size, click the size button at the widget's top right corner. It shows the current size, such as SM; click it to switch between Small and Medium.
- To remove the widget, click × (Remove Quick actions).
- Click Done.
On Home and Office Home, Reset layout in Customize mode also brings it back: it puts the whole dashboard back the way it started, which undoes your other changes to that dashboard too. See Customize your Home dashboard.
Good ways to use it
- Capture an idea fast. Click Create and start typing; the new document is saved in Office like any other.
- Start the day from your plans. Click Plan to see your timelines before opening a desk.
- Pick up shared work. Click Collaborate to see what other people have shared with you live.
- Hand routine work to a flow. Click Automate to set up a flow that runs every day, week or month, or when something happens, such as a task being completed.
Common questions
Can Create make a spreadsheet, a deck or a desk instead? Create always makes a document. For a spreadsheet, deck or desk in one click, add the Create new widget. See Create new widget.
Where does the new document go? It is saved in Office with your other files, named Untitled document. Rename it from the title at the top of the editor.
Collaborate shows nothing. Why? Nothing has been shared with you live yet, or you are not signed in. To share your own work live, see Work together in real time.
Can I change the four buttons? No. The buttons are fixed. For your own set of one-click tiles, use a Shortcuts box. See Shortcuts widget.
